The Seattle Kraken are the newest team in the National Hockey League as the 2021-22 season is their first. Now that the Kraken have entered the league, there are 32 teams, putting eight teams in each of the four divisions. Interested in learning more about betting on hockey? Right now, DraftKings have the Seattle Kraken at +650 to make the playoffs and +10,000 to win the Stanley Cup. Whereas FanDuel have the Kraken at +520 to make the playoffs and +13,000 to win the Stanley Cup. That means if you put $100 on the Kraken to win the Stanley Cup with either of those books, you could walk away winning $10,000 – $13,000.

Seattle Kraken 2021 Season So Far

Things have not gone exceptionally well for the Kraken through their first 18 games as they are just 5-12-1 for a total of eleven points. That puts them at the bottom of the division, but there is still plenty of time to turn things around.

The Kraken were able to select their roster through the expansion draft, and this has actually been a positive experience for other NHL franchises. NHL experts didn’t like some of the decisions made by the Kraken front office, and there are still some holes to fill on the roster.

The biggest question surrounding the Kraken is, “How will the 2021-22 season end?” The ultimate goal for any NHL team is to win the Stanley Cup, but just making the playoff field is the first step.

Kraken Have A Chance In Pacific Division

The Kraken were given a huge gift when the league made them a part of the Pacific Division. This is a division that isn’t loaded with great teams, Seattle already feels like a team in the top half of the division.

The Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights are the two most complete teams in that division, but every other team has some questions. Seattle will have limited amount of travel in that division as well, and that could also help them out.

The biggest problem for Seattle is the fact that these other teams all have chemistry, and that will get them through some tough stretches. The Kraken will be trying to build chemistry on the fly, and that’s going to lead to some long and difficult stretches.

Kraken Fail to Make Playoffs

The Vegas Golden Knights made it look easy a few years ago in their expansion season, but it usually doesn’t work out like that. That Vegas team was absolutely loaded with elite level talent, and the Kraken were not that fortunate in the latest expansion draft.

There appear to be some glaring issues with the Kraken, and they just don’t have the means to improve those throughout the year. Seattle is a team that will remain in the playoff race throughout the season, but it’s hard to see them making the postseason.

Playing in the Pacific will give Seattle a legitimate shot to get it done, but expansion teams are supposed to struggle. Vegas was an exception to the rule, but Seattle is not going to find the same success.

The Kraken are going to have a strong season, but it’s going to end without any playoff games.
