The odds to win the AL Cy Young Award have been out since the beginning of the season, and those odds continue to change daily. One bad or dominant outing from a pitcher can impact the odds in a big way and will continue to do so throughout the year.
This is a race that currently looks to be wide open, but there are some former Cy Young Award winners that are rising to the top. Here is a quick look at the current AL Cy Young betting odds heading into Memorial Day Weekend. Keep in mind that these odds will continue to update through the season.
Jump toNo Clear Betting Favorite
There is usually one team or individual that is a clear favorite when doing futures betting, but that isn’t the case in this situation. There are three pitchers that have emerged ahead of the pack, but no one has really been able to stand out.
- Justin Verlander +450
- Kevin Gausman +500
- Shane McClanahan +750
Verlander has a slight edge at the moment, and he has been sensational since his return from injury. There are some questions about how the right arm will hold up as the season moves along, but he is currently on track to win the award.
Kevin Gausman has been trending in the right direction for a few years, and he has thrown his name into the mix. Shane McClanahan is the outlier in this group, but he has pitched so well this season that he is now considered in the group of favorites.

Loaded Group of Contenders
There are three pitchers just outside the group of favorites that could all make a big move over the coming months as well.
The odds for those players are:
- Shohei Ohtani +900
- Gerrit Cole +900
- Alek Manoah +1100
It wouldn’t be an AL Cy Young Award race without Ohtani and Cole in the mix. Both pitchers just continue to dominate opposing lineups, but they still have some work to do if they are going to make a serious run at the award.
Manoah is another pitcher that isn’t usually considered for this type of award, but his big start to the 2022 season has him in contention.
