Boyd Gaming Tenders Offer to Acquire Pala Interactive

Based in Las Vegas, Boyd Gaming took a major step toward bolstering its iGaming business with the acquisition of Pala Interactive. The cost of this deal is reported to be $170 million in cash. Pala Interactive is based in California and owned and operated by the Pala Band of Mission Indians.

Boyd Gaming made the purchase through its wholly-owned iGaming subsidiary Boyd Interactive Gaming. The primary goal is to strengthen the company’s position in the rapidly expanding iGaming sector for casino games.

As part of a company statement, Boyd described Pala Interactive as “an innovative online gaming technology company.” One of its core strengths is the ability to provide “proprietary real money and social gaming solutions on both a business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C0 basis.”

Pala Interactive has existing business relationships in regulated gaming markets across the US and in Canada. Products and services offered cover technology and management systems for casino and poker platforms.

Along with New Jersey as a major US market, Pala Interactive was recently approved in Ontario, Canada as a Gaming Related Supplier (GRS). This designation includes a manufacturer license. The expansion of commercial iGaming in Ontario is set to go live in April.
