The first of the F1 betting tips is that you must do your research, even if you are an experienced sports bettor. You will want to make sure you understand what F1 betting odds mean and how to use them. And, you will want to find the best online sportsbooks for Formula 1 betting.

Another of the F1 betting tips you will also want to join more than one sportsbook when you are sports betting. This is because each sportsbook will have their own promotions and you can take advantage of them for your Formula 1 betting.

Types of Formula 1 Bets

Another of the F1 betting tips is to figure out which bet can payout the most. There are some F1 betting types where the bettor can choose to wager on the outcome of the championship.

If you want one of the F1 betting types around a championship, the bettor will predict which driver will win the championship at the end of the Grand Prix season. Another of the F1 betting types can be choosing which drivers will place in the top 6 or even in the top 3 at the end.

Constructors Championship Winner

The Formula One World Constructors’ Championship (WCC) is awarded by the FIA to the most successful Formula One constructor over a season.

So, one of the F1 betting types you can place your money on is to choose the outright winner of the Constructors Championship. You will want to check out the F1 Championship odds to choose which driver to bet on. And, you will want to do your research on the different drivers competing.

Drivers Championship Winner

The Formula One World Drivers’ Championship (WDC) is awarded by the FIA to the most successful Formula One racing car driver over a season. So, this is another of the F1 betting types where you can bet on who you believe will be the outright winner. You will once again want to check out the F1 Championship odds on the sportsbooks you use before placing your bets.

Pole Position

In Formula One and car racing/motorsports, the pole position is the position at the inside of the front row at the beginning of a racing event. It is given to the driver with the best qualifying time, decided in the trials before the race who is referred to as the pole sitter.

When you are F1 betting, you can decide to make a bet around the pole position. You can look at the F1 Championship Odds and decide who you think will be the pole sitter. And, you can place your bet knowing you have chosen the most likely candidate.

Fastest Lap

You must look at more than just F1 Championship odds when trying to place this kind of bet. And, you will want to see if any of the drivers have had the fastest lap before.

Instead of just looking at F1 Title odds, you should make sure to look at track records and driver’s histories. That way, you will be more certain when placing a bet on which driver will drive the fastest lap.

Podium Finish

Now, this is a type of bet where you will want to look at things like F1 Title odds. The top three drivers at the end of the Grand Prix will be considered the Podium Finish drivers.

So, you should definitely make sure to check out F1 Title odds in this instance as this information will be very helpful to you. And, you can look at the drivers’ track records to see who is most likely to finish in the top three.

Race Winner

Looking at things like F1 Title odds can help you find the fastest driver who is likely to win the race you are betting on. This is because the drivers with the best title odds have earned them through winning races.

Prop Bets

In F1 betting, a proposition bet, is also called a prop bet, prop, novelty, or a side bet. A prop bet is a bet placed around the occurrence or non-occurrence during a game of an event that does not directly affect the final outcome of the game.

So, as you can imagine, there are many different kinds of prop bets that you can make. You will want to look at several types of F1 betting odds in order to place a prop bet. And, this is a category where you will want to have done your research so you can place a winning bet.

Top 5 Formula 1 Races in History

Now that we have looked at things like the types of bets you can place and F1 Title odds. But, you may be curious about some Formula 1 history.

When getting into Formula 1 betting, knowing the history can help you make the best bets possible. So, you should make sure to learn about the background of the sport. Here are some highlights to get you started.

#5 Monaco Grand Prix (1982)

The 1982 Monaco Grand Prix was a Formula 1 motor race held in Monaco on May 23rd, 1982. This Grand Prix is famous for the strange series of events that occurred before a winner could be named. At the time, 1976 world champion James Hunt said, “Well, we’ve got this ridiculous situation where we’re all sitting by the start-finish line waiting for a winner to come past, and we don’t seem to be getting one!”

Basically, one driver ran out of gas before he could win the final lap. When trying to pass him, another driver also ran out of gas. Then, when trying to pass them both, a third driver’s car seized and stalled.

#4 Brazilian Grand Prix (2008)

The 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix was a Formula 1 race held on November 2nd, 2008 at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, Interlagos, in São Paulo, Brazil. The race was the 18th of the Formula 1 Season in 2008 and was the last of the season. This was a 71-lap race and was won by Ferrari driver Felipe Massa who started from the pole position. This winning race would be the last of Felipe Massa’s 11 wins.

#3 Australian Grand Prix (1994)

This is another famous race you should know if you are looking into Formula 1 betting. The 1994 Australian Grand Prix was a Formula 1 race that was held on November 13th, 1994 at the Adelaide Street Circuit in Australia. The race is notable for an incident that involved the two title contenders Damon Hill and Michael Schumacher.

The incident forced both drivers to retire during the race, but also resulted in Schumacher winning the World Drivers’ Championship. At one point, as Hill attempted to pass Schumacher, the two collided when Schumacher turned his car. Schumacher was immediately eliminated from the race. Hill attempted to continue the race, but retired with irreparable damage to his car. In the end, Schumacher was declared the winner under controversial circumstances.

#2 Canadian Grand Prix (2011)

The 2011 Canadian Grand Prix was a Formula 1 motor race held on June 12th, 2011 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was won by Jensen Button, his first win of the season. Over the course of the race, Button moved from twenty-first place to first, making it a very notable win for him.

#1 Japanese Grand Prix (1989)

The 1989 Japanese Grand Prix was a Formula 1 race held at Suzuka Circuit, Japan on October 22nd, 1989. This race would become known as one of the most infamous in Formula 1 history. It was the culmination of a two year rivalry between Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna’s as teammates at McLaren.

This 1989 Japanese Grand Prix decided the Drivers’ Championship in Prost’s favor. This was after a collision on lap 46  between him and Senna that sent them both off of the track. After the race, Senna was disqualified for his use of the chicane’s escape road to rejoin the circuit, so the title was given to Prost.

The Most Famous F1 Rivalry: Senna vs. Prost

Now, we are still looking toward history to help with your Formula 1 betting. We touched upon a very famous rivalry in the history of the sport in the section above. This rivalry is between French driver Alain Prost and Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna.

The rivalry was at its climax during the time that they were teammates at McLaren in the Formula One World Championship in 1988 as well as the Formula One World Championship in 1989 seasons. The two drivers had many confrontations with each other.

During their time in Formula 1 racing, Prost finished with 51 wins as well as 4 world championships. Senna, prior to his death in the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994, had 41 wins as well as 3 world championships. When they were racing, they were the drivers to bet on for Formula 1 betting.

Top 5 F1 World Champions

Another great idea when starting in Formula 1 betting is to look at the former champions. If any of these champions are still driving, it can be smart to put money down on them. Plus, knowing your Formula 1 history is a good idea when placing your bets.

Michael Schumacher

When looking into Formula 1 history, you have probably heard of Michael Schumacher. Schumacher was the only driver in the history of Formula 1 to win seven Formula 1 World Championships. And, five of these championships were won consecutively. Then the next driver came along…

Lewis Hamilton

Another name you will hear when learning about Formula 1 betting is Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton is the other seven-time Formula 1 World Champion and is considered by many to be the greatest driver in his generation. His seven World Champion titles tie him for the most of all time. He almost won his eighth last season, but there was a controversial final race.

Mario Andretti

Now, if you have done any Formula 1 betting, you have come across Mario Andretti. The Italian born-American raised driver is one of the best Americans in the sport in Formula 1 history. Andretti is one of only two drivers to have won races in Formula 1, IndyCar, the World Sportscar Championship, as well as NASCAR.

Niki Lauda

Andreas Nikolaus Lauda is the only driver in Formula 1 history to have been a champion for both Ferrari and McLaren, who are the sport’s two most successful constructors. Many consider him to be one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers in the history of Formula 1. So, back in the day, he was one to look out for when Formula 1 betting.

Alain Prost

You may remember Alain Prost from earlier in this Formula 1 betting guide. Prost is a four-time Formula 1 Drivers’ Champion. And, from 1987 to 2001, Prost held the record for most Grand Prix victories, which is why he is thought to be one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers in the history of the sport.
