MLB Betting Picks for Friday July 29, 2022

We have reached the final weekend of baseball before the Trade Deadline and there is a full slate of MLB games on tap. Playoff races have really started to heat up in each league, and that puts added pressure on most teams.

With just two months remaining in the season, it has also become a bit easier to handicap teams and certain matchups. With that in mind, here are the three best MLB betting picks to look at for Friday, July 29.

New York Mets at Miami Marlins (+125)

NL East rivals meet up in Miami on Friday night as the Marlins are set to host the New York Mets. The Mets continue to be one of the best teams in baseball this season, and they are favored to win this game.

This is a great opportunity to bet on the underdog Miami Marlins though, as they will send Sandy Alcantara to the mound. Alcantara is 9-4 with a 1.81 ERA and he appears to be getting better as the season goes along.

The Mets will have Chris Bassitt on the mound, and he is 7-7 with a 3.72 ERA on the year. New York also has a lineup loaded with sluggers, but scoring against Alcantara is never easy.

Take the Marlins at +125 to find enough offense to support Alcantara as the home team wins the season opener.

St. Louis Cardinals -1.5 (+110) at Washington Nationals

The St. Louis Cardinals are in Washington on Friday night for a series against the Nationals, and there are plenty of storylines in this game. Washington is willing to trade Juan Soto, and the Cardinals could actually be a landing spot for the superstar.

Even with Soto on the team for the Nationals, they continue to be one of the worst teams in the league. Washington is just 34-66 on the season, and they have pitched to a team ERA of 5.13.

Miles Mikolas makes the start for the Cardinals and the All Star is 7-8 with a 2.87 ERA this year. Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado power the Cardinals lineup, and they are two of the best players in the league.

Forget about just betting the moneyline in this one and take the run line for better odds. The Cardinals are winning this game by at least two runs on Friday night.

Milwaukee Brewers -175 at Boston Red Sox

The Milwaukee Brewers are in Boston on Friday night to begin a series with a Red Sox team that is heading in the wrong direction. Boston is now in last place in the rugged AL East Division, while the Brewers are in first place in the NL Central.

Milwaukee continues to win games with its starting rotation, and it will be Brandon Woodruff on the mound in this game. Woodruff is 8-3 with a 3.73 ERA, and he is usually able to pitch well when he is on the mound.

Boston has a ton of issues at this point in time, and the offense continues to be a complete mess. There is still some talent in that offense, but it’s hard to predict them to do much damage against Woodruff and the Brewers.

Take Milwaukee -175 as their offense is able to get just enough to support Woodruff and beat the Red Sox.
