Betting the NL West – Win Totals

Betting the NL West - Win Totals

The NL West Division could be one of the best in baseball this season, and that was the case a season ago. Below is a look at the projected win totals for every team in the NL West Division.

The NL West Division has a clear betting favorite this season, but that was the case a season ago. The San Francisco Giants are actually the reigning division champions, but that is a team that’s not getting much respect.

Placing a futures bet on the eventual NL West champion is one solid futures betting option, but you can also wager on the projected win totals. This acts as a simple over/under bet, and these odds are going to be changing as the season moves along.

Here are the projected win totals for every team in the NL West Division:

  • L.A. Dodgers 98.5
  • San Diego 89.5
  • San Francisco 86.5
  • Colorado 68.5
  • Arizona 67.5

Dodgers Are Big Favorites

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the betting favorites to win the World Series, and that makes them big favorites to win the NL West Division. Los Angeles spent a ton of money this offseason again, and that lineup is clearly the best in baseball.

The projected win total for the Dodgers is set at 98.5, and it’s always hard for a team to get to 100 wins on the year. If any team is going to pull off that feat this season, though, the Dodgers would be the best bet.

This is a bet in which you want to take the over as Los Angeles will cruise through the regular season.

Giants Getting No Respect

Perhaps the most shocking win total in all of baseball is the fact that the San Francisco Giants’ number is set at just 86.5. This team won the NL West last season, and they flew past the 100-win mark.

Even if San Francisco takes a step back this season, they are still going to be one of the better teams in the NL. This is a bet that you have to make as the Giants are at least getting to 87 wins.

San Diego is another story as they are going to struggle to put it all together yet again. The Padres have a win total set at 89.5, but they are going to go under that number as they fail to make the playoffs again.

Rockies Appear Ready to Improve

It has been a rough few seasons for the Colorado Rockies, but they went out and signed Kris Bryant this offseason. Not much is expected of the Rockies in 2022, but they could exceed those expectations.

The Rockies have a win total set at just 68.5 wins, and that feels too low. Colorado won’t get close to the .500 mark, but getting to 75 wins seems like a real possibility.

Arizona has the lowest projected win total in the NL West at just 67.5 games, and that feels a bit too high. Bet the under 67.5 as the Diamondbacks finish with 65 wins or less.
