When Bally’s Corporation decided to purchase Bally’s name from Caesars Entertainment, the company had big plans for the iconic gaming brand.
The first plan was to rename the company. Bally’s Corporation was formally known as Twin River Worldwide Holdings. The Rhode Island-based gaming and entertainment company did not stop there.
Also part of the deal with Caesars was the purchase of the actual Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City to get the ball rolling.
Jump toDover Downs Joins the Bally Brand
More recently, the company announced that it will change the name of Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Delaware. The new name will be Bally’s Dover Casino Resort. The goal is to align this highly popular East Coast gaming facility with Bally’s brand.
The casino was already part of the Bally Rewards’ program. Existing rewards tied to Dover Downs will be transferred to the main database. The conversion will begin as early as this month with new signage at the resort.
The casino offers a full complement of slots and table games. All the chips, cards, and other gaming paraphernalia will be replaced with the Bally’s brand over the coming weeks.
This was one of Twin River’s original gaming venues before adding properties that were formally under the ownership of Caesars. Dover Downs was purchased in 2018.
As part of the merger between Eldorado Resorts in Reno and Caesars Entertainment in Las Vegas, regulators in certain states required the sale of certain casino properties. That is how Twin River was able to acquire the original Bally’s Casino in New Jersey.

Other Changes at Delaware Gaming Facilities
The changeover in Delaware to the Bally brand is just one move impacting casinos in that state.
The Rickman family announce plans to sell Delaware Park to a private equity firm located based in Toronto.
The NASCAR racetrack in Dover was not part of the casino deal with Twin River. However, it will now be owned by Speedway Motorsports as one of the country’s biggest operators of auto racing tracks. The current owner is Dover Motorsports.
Bally’s Ongoing Brand Expansions
Bally’s Corporation owns and operates 14 casinos as one of the bigger regional gaming and entertainment companies in the US. When Twin River purchased Dover Downs in 2018, the company only owned and operated four casinos.
Since acquiring Bally’s brand, most of those casino venues have been rebranded. Along with Dover, the MontBleu Casino & Spa near Lake Tahoe will also transition over. The gaming facility’s new name will be Bally’s Lake Tahoe Casino & Hotel.
Similar to Dover Downs, the complete changeover to the Bally’s brand is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2022.
Bally’s has also made some major inroads into the legal US sports betting industry through Bally Bet. Backed by a partnership with Sinclair Broadcasting, the Bally’s name is tied to 19 regional sports networks across the country.
Since the formation of the Bally Bet as the company’s mobile sports betting app, this online sportsbook as entered 16 different legal markets in the US.
