Governor Laura Kelly signed Senate Bill into law on July 1. Only one more signature will be needed to get Kansas off and running for legal sports betting.

Derek Schmidt is the state’s head of the Attorney General’s Office. He is also required to sign the regulations for legal sports betting in Kansas. Once he signed the document, the proceedings will go on as planned.

When Gov. Kelly signed the original bill, Kansas sports betting could have met the deadline for the beginning of the new NFL season. The state’s decision to wait for the end of the year followed course.

Kansas will allow legal sports betting in retail and online sportsbooks. There are four casinos which have the opportunity to partner up with three online sportsbook operators. Combined, they will run the sports betting operation.

The next step is for the casino to sign the contract with the Kansas State Lottery. The casinos and the sportsbooks have set the deadline in early January.

The Kansas casinos can partner with up to 50 retailers, such as restaurants and gas stations. Kansas Speedway and Sporting Kansas City were also mentioned. The state’s federally recognized tribes could offer sports betting.

State lawmakers agreed upon taking a flat 10% of all bets for the state’s fee. This included both retail and online sportsbooks. All sports betting venues would be subject to the 10% tax.

The sportsbooks are partnered with the casinos. DraftKings offer pre-registration in early August. Caesars Sportsbook has offered a $1,500 risk-free bet. Penn National Gaming is using Barstool Sportsbook to obtain a retail sports betting venue.

The sportsbooks are restless, finding a way to make the most out for a deal. DraftKings and FanDuel are the top sportsbooks in a chosen field. They offer daily fantasy sports leagues in various states in the US.

The other sports betting operators included on the list are BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, BetRivers, Barstool Sportsbook, PointsBet, WynnBET, SI Sportsbook, FOX Bet and Bally Bet.

Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway and Kansas Star Casino are a few of the commercial casinos.
