Seal of Idaho

Idaho Sports Betting

Idaho sports betting is not currently legal at this time, and it’s not likely to become regulated anytime soon. Idaho is one of just a handful of states that has not had a sports betting bill introduced since the PASPA was struck down by the US Supreme Court in 2018.

There are ten tribal casinos in Idaho, and these could potentially offer ID sports betting if a new law was passed. Horse racing is legal in the state, and perhaps that could be a pathway into the industry.

Another option would be to offer ID sports betting, and that is a path that some states have started to take recently. Nothing will ever change until a legislator is able to present a bill to change the current betting laws.

Without the presence of commercial casinos in the state, it is likely that Idaho online sports betting would be the best option. Several states are now looking into this option, and online betting has been the most popular form of wagering on sports like football and MMA.

The ten tribal casinos in Idaho could also offer in-person sports betting, depending on the wording of the legislation. It is not likely that Idaho sports betting will be a large market, and options would be limited.

ID Sports Betting Rules

Since ID sports betting has not been brought up yet, it is unclear as to what rules will eventually be in effect. There are no professional sports teams in the state, but betting on the top US sports and leagues would be offered.

The Boise State Broncos are the long division one college football team in the state, and allowing betting on collegiate events would add to handle and revenue numbers.

ID Sports Betting Regulations

While states all throughout the country are exploring legalized sports betting, that has not been the case in Idaho. Lawmakers have yet to explore ID sports betting, and that would be the first step to getting the industry launched in the state.

ID sports betting is not coming anytime soon, and there is a chance that it might not happen at all. There is not a strong sports culture in the state, and there hasn’t ever been a real push to legalize sports betting.

At this time, a sports betting bill has never been proposed, and there are no plans to do so in 2021. Idaho could see several neighboring states launch in the next few months, and that could put some pressure on lawmakers to offer this form of gambling as well.
