All of the teams are in action on Friday night, and that provides plenty of betting options. Here are the three best MLB betting picks to make for Friday, August 5th, 2022.

Baltimore Orioles -165 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

The Baltimore Orioles (54-51) are hosting the Pittsburgh Pirates (43-62) on Friday night to kick off a three-game series. Baltimore continues to be one of the biggest surprises in baseball, while Pittsburgh is finally starting to fade.

Mitch Keller is just 3-7 with a 4.37 ERA on the year, and he is set to make this start for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Pittsburgh did just sweep the Milwaukee Brewers earlier this week, but the young talent has struggled in the second half.

Baltimore is also coming off of a sweep, having went into Texas and swept the Rangers. The Orioles made some interesting moves at the trade deadline, but this offense continues to be led by Anthony Santander and his 19 home runs.

The Orioles are the better team, and they win this game at -165 over the Pirates.

Chicago White Sox -1.5 at Texas Rangers

A pair of disappointing teams are meeting up on Friday night when the Texas Rangers host the Chicago White Sox. The Rangers are likely going to miss out on the postseason in 2022, while the White Sox still have some time to win the AL Central Division.

Chicago is a slight moneyline favorite in this matchup, but you should look at betting the -1.5 run line. Dylan Cease will make this start for the White Sox, and he is 11-4 with a 2.01 ERA on the year.

Cease has been one of the best pitchers in baseball history over his past 12 starts, and the Rangers are going to struggle to hit him. Texas just continues to lose games by playing inconsistent baseball, and that’s why taking the run line is the way to go.

Bet the Chicago White Sox -1.5 on Friday night.

New York Yankees -145 at St. Louis Cardinals

The New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals got together on a deal before the Trade Deadline, and those two teams will square off this weekend. New York is 70-36 on the season, and the Cardinals are 57-48 on the year.

St. Louis has been playing really well of late, but they have Dakota Hudson on the mound in this game. New York will counter by sending Nestor Cortes out to make this start, and he is 9-3 with a 2.53 ERA on the year.

The Yankees continue to be the best offense in baseball, and this should be a good matchup for them. St. Louis just won’t have enough offense to keep this game close, and the Yankees (-145) will roll in the series opener.
