The Brooklyn Nets are the current betting favorites to win the NBA championship this season, and they have been that way since the odds were released. Winning an NBA championship is never easy, and the Nets came up short a season ago.
The real question is whether or not there is value in betting on the Brooklyn Nets future? Even if the Nets do go on and win the title, is there enough value in taking the risk? Right now on BetMGM the odds are +260.
NBA futures betting is one of the biggest markets there is, especially on the NBA Championship. This is also a league that has plenty of parity, and there are still some questions surrounding this team.
Will Kyrie Irving Return?
The Nets are currently playing without point guard Kyrie Irving as he refuses to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Irving is eligible to play in road games for the Nets, but the team decided to keep him away.
Playing without Irving is a huge blow to the Nets, especially on the offensive side of the ball. It’s hard to think that Irving will miss the entire season, and his return would make the Nets a much stronger team.
Brooklyn needed a “Big Three” to challenge the Bucks in the East and the Lakers in the West, but the loss of Irving might not even make them the favorites in their own division.
Dynamic Duo Still There
Even though losing Irving is a massive blow, the Nets still have Kevin Durant and James Harden leading the way. These are two of the best scorers in the NBA, but each player has dealt with some major injury concerns as well.
Keeping Harden and Durant healthy will be the top priority for the Nets this season, and they also have to find a way to get them some rest. If the dynamic duo is available for the postseason then the Nets are still going to be a tough out.
Recent history has shown that it takes at least two superstars to win a title, and Brooklyn still has that.
Betting Nets or the Field?
Even though you aren’t making a bet on the Nets or the field, that is essentially what you are doing when making a futures bet. Brooklyn is still a pretty large favorite to win the NBA title, but there just isn’t a ton of value there.
If you are going to bet on the Nets to win the title then you need to wait until there is some change in the odds. Brooklyn might be the team that ultimately goes on and wins the title, but it’s not worth it taking them at +260.
Keep a close eye on the odds and be ready to strike if you ever find more value. If Brooklyn continues to be the favorite then find another team to target and root for an upset.
