In 2018, the H2320 bill was introduced that would allow riverboat casinos and daily fantasy sports companies to offer traditional sports betting. This could have paved the way for Missouri online gambling.

There were a number of hearings that were held prior to the ruling of the Supreme Court, but the bill never advanced past the committee stage. At the beginning of 2019, several new sports betting bills were introduced. Lawmakers in the state are not opposed to offering Missouri sports betting or allowing operators in the state. It is a matter of fees and taxes that are holding things up at this point.

Likewise, Missouri online casinos could become a reality in the future. However, there seems to be a greater interest in legalizing sports betting first, so it may be some time.

The Future of Online Gambling in MO

A current bill that did pass the committee stage is waiting to be enacted. This bill would regulate all sports wagering, not including Missouri online sports betting. However, venues would be limited to vessels on the water. Unfortunately, there is no mention of online betting in the bill. So, those waiting for Missouri sports betting apps to be launched in 2019 will have to wait a while longer.
