Illinois online sports betting has been approved, although know that there is a waiting period before you can download an app and play from anywhere.

The IL sports betting apps we expect to be downloadable are Caesars Sports and BetRivers Sportsbook as those brands’ parent companies already have retail casinos in the Land on Lincoln.

Live casino gambling, including live poker, is allowed on 10 riverboat casinos, while IL online casinos are expressly outlawed. Residents can on-track pari-mutuel bet at horse tracks as well as play the state lottery online. Sports betting has also been recently legalized but is not online yet and locations are awaiting license approval.

Pritzker issued an executive order with the aim to expedite mobile IL sports betting, the Illinois Gaming Board approved 7 casinos for four-year master licenses. IL Online Casinos

Unfortunately, the online casino world remains unlawful. Often states treat online sports betting and online casinos rather differently and this appears to have been the case in the Illinois legislature when they were re-evaluating the gambling regulations.

Fantasy sports betting is, in fact, permitted in Illinois. It occupies an unusual spot in sports betting as it’s often not officially labeled as gambling. So, if you’re in IL, you’re allowed to open fantasy sports accounts; try the DFS platforms:

  • DraftKings
  • Fanduel
