British and American fans disagree on prospect of McGregor landing biggest fight in betting history

BRITISH AND American bettors are split on the prospect of Conor McGregor winning a fight bookmakers are dubbing the biggest in betting history, according to US-Bookies.

With over $75 million forecast to be bet on the contest on both sides of the Atlantic, the fight should smash UFC betting records. However, it’s not McGregor who is dominating the action, at least in one corner of the world. British bettors fall down on the side of Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is as short as -175 to win with British-based bookmakers. So far, the Brits have fielded up to 60% of stakes on the Russian, causing McGregor to drift to +150.

But it’s a different story in Las Vegas. Early bettors in Sin City pushed the Irishman into +110 (from +125), placing as much as 70% of handle on Khabib, a first-time underdog in his pay-per-view UFC career.

Alex Kostin of US-Bookies commented: “The fight looks set to smash all previous UFC betting records but incredibly vast amounts of the interest in the UK comes from fans who are expecting it to be a tough night for McGregor. The bookies are in agreement as they forecast this to be the hardest contest to date for The Notorious who is in unfamiliar territory as an outsider.”

He added: “Fans in Vegas are much more loyal to the Irishman and they anticipate the bout to be much closer than in the UK. Unless there’s a late change of loyalties, the Vegas oddsmakers will definitely be cheering on Khabib.”
