Connecticut Online Casinos 2024

Connecticut online casino gambling is not yet legal as of April 1, 2021, but it could be within the next month. There are currently just two tribal casinos in operation in Connecticut, and these properties would be the only ones authorized to offer online betting as well.

Online casino is tied to a sports betting bill, and this could provide a huge boost to the current gaming industry here in conjunction with Connecticut online sportsbooks. Lawmakers must still pass a law to legalize online casino gambling, but it appears that there is plenty of support for this to occur.

Online CT Casino Rules

The Foxwoods Resort Casino and the Mohegan Sun are the two tribal gaming properties in the state of Connecticut and will be the only ones eligible to offer online gambling for CT casinos. This could change down the road, but lawmakers have made it clear that tribal groups have first priority.

Both of these tribes already offer live poker games at the casinos, and it is believed that online poker would be offered as well. CT online casino gambling could become a large player in the market even though there will likely be just two options.

The tax rate would be similar to what it currently is for in-person casino gambling.

CT Casino Regulations

A pair of bills are currently making their way through the Connecticut state legislature and are expected to eventually land on the desk of Governor Ned Lamont. HB 6451 is a gambling expansion bill that would allow both CT online casino gambling and sports betting in the state.

On top of that bill, SB 146 creates rules and regulations to guide both of the new industries. The Bureau of Indian Affairs must also approve the gaming compacts with the tribes that allow for CT online casino gambling.

The Connecticut Lottery will play a role in both new industries and will be the regulatory body specifically for sports betting.

Summary

Connecticut online casino gambling is expected to be legal at some point in 2021, and it could launch later this year as well. The two tribal casinos have been working with the state government, and it appears that a final deal is close.

There won’t be a large number of CT online casino sites available, but the state has already proven to have a great casino industry. There are still plenty of rules and regulations that will need to be figured out, but legalizing the industry is the most important step.

Connecticut residents should soon be able to start placing bets at online casino gambling sites.
